Where did the name the ROOM come from?
The book of Acts tells us that after Jesus ascension, his followers would gather in the upper room to pray, and talk about the Jesus movement. It was out of the upper room that God unleashed His unstoppable church. We desire to be part of this unleashing. We weren’t feeling the way “Upper Room” sounded for a church, but really liked the sound of the ROOM. So we decided to name this community, the ROOM.

What kind of church is the ROOM?
The ROOM is a non-denominational community, not as interested in doing church as we are in being the church. During his time on earth, Jesus accused the “church people” of adding layers of rules and traditions to God’s pure word. He challenged them to remove the layers, and in the process, find him. That’s what we want!

What does a Sunday gathering look like at the ROOM?
Our Sunday gatherings can’t really be explained…they must be experienced. However, you can expect to sing, dance, laugh, drink coffee, eat, enjoy community, and be engaged in creative conversations about the Scriptures. There is no dress code or anything like that. You come as you are, but on any given Sunday, may leave transformed.

Does the ROOM provide childcare?
No. But we do offer children’s church. We call it the Clay ROOM as we believe in shaping a child in the way of Jesus from birth to old. The Clay ROOM is available for ages 1 through 9 and meets during our Sunday gatherings.

Where does the ROOM meet?
We currently meet every Sunday at 10:30 am at 1370 Winston Plaza in Melrose Park Il. There is plenty of parking, but you have to park in the big parking space next to Best Buy and The Bedding Experts. We meet inside of Rose Banquet Halls in a room all the way in the back. We’re not that hard to find…you just have to follow the signs and look for us.

How do I become a member of the ROOM?
To become a member of the ROOM, all you have to do is show up. We don’t get caught up with the term “membership.” Our heart is to teach, lead, serve and love all, regardless of membership.

How do I get involved in one of the ROOM’s elements?
To serve in our elements, we ask that you show up to one of our “Join the Cause.” Join the Cause is where we share the ROOM’s story, what we’re about, what we believe, and the role that you can play at the ROOM. It’s a time where you can learn more about us, while at the same time, we learn more about you.
